Collider · 2 hours ago

David Boreanaz will lead a new reimagining of *The Rockford Files*, reviving the long-running 1970s detective drama. He will play Jim Rockford, a former prisoner who becomes a Los Angeles private investigator while navigating tensions involving police and organised crime; the project extends Boreanaz’s lengthy run as a television lead.

The original series starred James Garner and ran for six seasons after debuting in 1974, later returning for eight reunion television films in the 1990s. It followed Rockford’s cases and relationships with allies including his father Rocky, police contact Dennis Becker and lawyer Beth Davenport, and became known for its car chases and Rockford’s gold Pontiac Firebird Esprit.
