## Summary

NBC has set a 2027 premiere for its reboot of The Rockford Files, with David Boreanaz taking over the role of private detective Jim Rockford from the late James Garner. The return matters because the original series’ distinctive detective and answering-machine messages are central to its appeal.

The reboot gets a special preview on Saturday, 2 January, at about 8 p.m. ET, after NBC’s NFL broadcast, followed by its regular Thursday slot on 7 January at 8 p.m. ET. Episodes will stream on Peacock the following day. Michaela McManus, Ilfenesh Hadera and Jacki Weaver also star; viewers can call a number for a message from Boreanaz.
