Producer David Holmes has revealed details of Sinéad O'Connor's final, unreleased album, three years after the Irish singer's death in July 2023 at the age of 56. Sharing an Instagram post over the weekend, Holmes, who worked closely with O'Connor in her final years, published text messages she sent him while they were recording the record together, offering fans a rare glimpse into her creative process and state of mind shortly before she died.

The album, titled 'No Veteran Dies Alone', was described by Holmes as "a stone cold classic" and "a love letter to her children and the world". In the shared messages, O'Connor discussed mixing tweaks and expressed excitement about how the record sounded, while a December 2022 text set out her wishes for an a cappella intro and for songs to be sequenced chronologically. Holmes said he remains uncertain whether the album will ever be released, but praised her performances as "real and pure". The post drew tributes from figures including Imelda May, Lauren Laverne, Jarvis Cocker, Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite and Garbage, many calling for the album to eventually be released.
