## Key points

- Lammy may consider London mayoral bid.
- Any bid depends on Khan stepping aside.
- No formal candidacy has been announced.

## Summary

David Lammy is reportedly considering a future bid to become Mayor of London if Sadiq Khan chooses not to seek a fourth term. The prospect would matter because it could shape Labour’s succession plans for one of the UK’s most prominent elected offices.

Khan has already served three terms as mayor, having won re-election in 2024. The article presents Lammy’s potential candidacy as contingent on Khan stepping aside, rather than as a confirmed campaign or formal announcement.
