## Summary

Labour MP Dawn Butler accused Conservative shadow minister Neil O’Brien of prompting a “racist pile-on” after he criticised her support for UK reparations in a post on X. She said she received thousands of abusive messages after sharing a speech on the issue, and told MPs that O’Brien’s reference to her “mates overseas” brought further abuse.

O’Brien said he was questioning why taxpayers should fund reparations and argued that his constituents had done nothing wrong. Butler said she had asked him to explain his wording but received no response. Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle urged MPs to consider their language and tone, while security minister Dan Jarvis pointed to government work addressing threats to MPs.
