DC Officially Brings Back a Legendary Villain for New Horror Movie Trailer

Collider · 3 hours ago

DC Studios has released a new trailer for "Clayface," the first horror film set in James Gunn's rebooted DC Universe, giving fans a closer look at the villain's grotesque transformation. The film reimagines the classic Batman antagonist through actor Tom Rhys Harries, drawing on decades of comic-book history while taking clear inspiration from the character's memorable depiction in "Batman: The Animated Series."

In the trailer, Harries plays Matt Hagen, a rising actor whose face is horrifically disfigured in an attack, leaving him desperate to reverse the damage. He turns to Dr Caitlin Corr, played by Naomi Ackie, who offers an experimental and potentially fatal treatment; though it initially appears to restore his looks, his flesh soon begins to grotesquely reshape itself, setting him on a path to becoming the shapeshifting monster Clayface. The character was first created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane in 1940, with a later, radioactively-mutated version introduced in 1961, and this film's take blends elements of both. "Clayface" is due in cinemas on 23 October.
