Writer David Jenkins has said that his planned Booster Gold television series for DC Studios will not proceed. The announcement is another apparent setback for the revamped DC Universe, whose original slate has changed considerably since James Gunn and Peter Safran outlined it in 2023.

Jenkins, creator of Our Flag Means Death, joined the project in 2025 after inheriting it from Danny McBride, but DC has not confirmed whether a different version could still be developed. Booster Gold is Michael Jon Carter, a 25th-century former football star who travels to the present with robot companion Skeets and uses future technology and historical knowledge to become a celebrity superhero; other DCU projects, including Lanterns, Clayface and Man of Tomorrow, remain scheduled.
