DC’s Free-to-Play Marvel Tokon Rival Doesn’t Look Great
Warner Bros has announced a new free-to-play DC fighting game based on the DCKO comic crossover series, positioned as a rival to the upcoming Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. However, the game is mobile-only, using simple tap-and-swipe controls rather than a traditional fighting-game control scheme, which has drawn scepticism from commentators about whether it can match a "proper" console fighter.
The game already features a large roster including Batman, Harley Quinn and Superman, and incorporates comic-book flourishes such as onomatopoeic sound bubbles ("pow", "wham") during combat. It arrives amid ongoing rumours of a full console entry, Injustice 3, with some observers suggesting the mobile title may be better compared to Marvel Contest of Champions than to Marvel Tokon.
