Roberto De Zerbi has completed Tottenham's £75m signing of Manchester City winger Savinho, who has asked to be known as Sávio, as part of a summer of heavy spending aimed at reviving the club's fortunes. The move follows Spurs' dismal 3-0 defeat at Brentford in their Premier League opener, a result De Zerbi has attributed partly to a makeshift line-up and a gruelling pre-season tour, though he has acknowledged the performance itself was unacceptable.

The fee for Sávio, which could rise to £85m with add-ons, is a record sale for City, who paid £30.8m for him from Troyes; Spurs are also pursuing City's Omar Marmoush. De Zerbi rates Sávio as one of the world's best one-on-one attackers but wants him to improve his goal output after just seven goals for City in all competitions. Sávio, who takes the No 17 shirt vacated by Cristian Romero, is available to face Charlton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, with Spurs under pressure having won just one home league game in 2026.
