East Bay Ray, the 67-year-old guitarist and founding member of punk legends Dead Kennedys, has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, the band announced on 22 September. The diagnosis marks a significant personal challenge for the musician, whose real name is Raymond Pepperell, as he navigates life with a progressive neurological condition.

Despite the diagnosis, Ray has expressed his determination to maintain his performing schedule and continue touring with Dead Kennedys for as long as his health allows. The announcement comes as Ray remains active creatively, having recently released a solo single titled "Area 51", signalling his continued commitment to music despite the new health challenge.
