Deadline to file claim in $2.5B settlement over Amazon Prime coming soon

The Hill · 3 hours ago

Eligible US Amazon Prime customers have until 27 July to file a claim for a refund under Amazon’s $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. The settlement resolved allegations that Amazon enrolled people in Prime without clear consent and made cancellation unnecessarily difficult, claims the company agreed to settle without a trial.

Amazon will pay $1 billion as a civil penalty and set aside $1.5 billion for consumer refunds. Customers who did not receive an automatic payment may be able to claim up to $51 if they were affected by the disputed sign-up or cancellation practices between June 2019 and June 2025.

  • Prime refund claims close on 27 July.
  • Eligible customers may receive up to $51.
  • Settlement addresses alleged deceptive sign-up and cancellation practices.
