Their new three-part series examines the life and death of Mica Miller, wife of South Carolina pastor John-Paul Miller, and addresses the abusive relationship allegations surrounding him while treating her apparent suicide as a mental-health issue rather than an unresolved mystery.

Directors Julia Willoughby Nason and Mike Gasparro, whose earlier work includes American Murder: Gabby Petito and Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal, said Netflix’s production infrastructure and experience help it deliver documentaries under tight budgets and timelines. They said three episodes have become the preferred format, after viewer data indicated audiences were less likely to finish longer series; Death of the Pastor’s Wife is now streaming on Netflix.
