Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has renewed his criticism of rock bands that stage "farewell" tours and then return to touring within a few years, and of bands that continue performing under a legacy name without any members from their classic lineup. He argues both practices are dishonest towards fans, calling never-ending or resumed farewell tours "dogshit" and describing acts with no original members as "deceptive" and "misrepresentative", since audiences are drawn to a band for its members as well as its songs.

Snider made the comments in video messages posted to Facebook, without naming specific bands. He said artists are free to keep touring indefinitely but should not sell farewell merchandise and inflated ticket prices before returning, referencing Ozzy Osbourne's "No More Tours" campaign as an example he had bought into. On lineups, he said having at least one classic-era member, such as Quiet Riot's Rudy Sarzo, is acceptable, but bands with zero original members should retire the name entirely; he also pushed back on fans who defended "inherited" band names, comparing it unfavourably to disbanding and reforming, as Rage Against the Machine and Mötley Crüe have done. The remarks echo similar comments he made in July 2020.
