Video and bodycam footage appear to contradict claims made by Maryland state senator C Anthony Muse after his Land Rover struck a parked car and was left abandoned on a pavement in Annapolis. Muse initially told a police officer that his driver had parked the vehicle before leaving, but surveillance footage obtained by ABC reportedly shows the 68-year-old Democrat parking the SUV and walking away alone, raising questions about his honesty with police during the investigation.

The incident occurred on 6 August after another motorist reported her wing mirror had been struck by an SUV that initially failed to stop; she told a 911 dispatcher she believed the driver was intoxicated. A parking attendant later contacted police to say Muse did not appear fit to drive and had taken his keys, while bodycam footage shows officers discussing concerns about his ability to drive before he was offered a ride rather than a sobriety test. Muse, who represents Prince George's County and was in Annapolis for a special legislative session, later told Fox45 that he had clipped a wing mirror while giving way to a truck and parked hastily to apologise to the car's owner. He has not been charged, and Senate President Bill Ferguson said he was committed to upholding the Senate's standards "fairly and without bias."
