- Texas and Nevada incumbents lost their races.
- Iowa results are not detailed in the article.

## Summary

Democrats flipped five Republican-held governorships in the 2026 elections, winning Ohio, Iowa and Georgia, as well as defeating incumbents in Texas and Nevada. The results mark a broad shift in state races and put Democrats in charge of several states previously governed by Republicans.

The article reports Aaron Ford beat Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo with 51.7 per cent of the vote, Gina Hinojosa won Texas with 52.8 per cent, Keisha Lance Bottoms took Georgia with 54.3 per cent, and Amy Acton won Ohio with 52.3 per cent. Vote counts were mostly near completion when results were reported; the article gives no vote share or further details for Iowa. Texas had elected only Republican governors since 1994, and Hinojosa is set to replace Greg Abbott, who has held office since 2015.
