Democrats targeting 12 additional red districts in midterms push to retake House
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has expanded its list of Republican-held US House seats it plans to target in the November midterm elections, adding 12 new districts to the 46 it had already earmarked as potential flips. The move signals Democrats' broader push to retake control of the House, with the party's campaign arm expressing confidence it will have the resources needed to compete in these traditionally Republican-leaning areas.
Among the newly targeted seats are those held by Representatives Lauren Boebert of Colorado, French Hill of Arkansas and Mike Flood of Nebraska, alongside several other Republican incumbents now deemed "in play". DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene discussed the strategy in an interview, framing the expanded target list as part of the House Democrats' wider midterm playbook to get their message out and challenge Republicans in previously safer districts.
- DCCC adds 12 more Republican-held districts to its target list.
- Total of 58 seats now considered flippable by Democrats.
