Netflix will release the third and final instalment of Kenji Nakamura's acclaimed anime film trilogy, "Mononoke The Movie: Chapter III — The Curse of the Serpent," globally on 29 September. The series, praised for its striking ukiyo-e-inspired visual style and compelling mystery storytelling, is being highlighted as a must-watch for fans of Demon Slayer awaiting the next Infinity Castle instalment, offering similarly vivid animation, memorable characters and supernatural conflict.

The trilogy follows the mysterious "Medicine Seller," who exorcises vengeful spirits called mononoke, as he moves through the Ōoku, the residence of the Japanese shogun's consorts and attendants. This final chapter centres on his investigation into the Midaidokoro, the shogun's wife and the most powerful woman in the Ōoku, following on from 2024's "The Phantom in the Rain" and 2025's "Chapter II — The Ashes of Rage." Each film examines the internal politics and emotional turmoil of women at different ranks within this setting, with the first two entries already streaming on Netflix ahead of the finale's premiere.
