Three Fields Entertainment, the developer behind the Burnout-inspired arcade racer Wreckreation, has established a new studio called When Tides Turn and confirmed it is making Wreckreation 2. The move gives the team full ownership of the project while keeping the same developers in place, offering a renewed attempt to build a successful open-world arcade racing series after the first game received mixed reviews.

Wreckreation launched in 2025 and was made by a small team that includes Criterion Games veterans. Studio head Fiona Sperry said six months of player feedback informed the sequel’s handling, progression, events and world design; the new game will emphasise aggression, pressure, risk and consequences. An announcement trailer has been released, while updates and playtest sign-ups will be offered through Patreon.
