Marc Rosenblum, the Department of Homeland Security's top statistics official, has resigned, publicly accusing the Trump administration of waging a "war on immigrants" as he left. His departure is notable because, despite widespread controversy surrounding DHS under the second Trump administration—including ICE raids, expanded detention facilities and disputed spending—very few officials have quit and spoken out critically, making Rosenblum one of the first to do so openly.

Rosenblum served as executive director of the Office of Homeland Security Statistics and previously worked across the first Trump and Biden administrations, consolidating data from DHS's 22 component agencies on issues ranging from cybersecurity to deportations. His office shrank from a peak of 45 staff under Biden, and DHS's public statistics website has not been updated since 11 February 2025, shortly after Trump's second term began, with analysts describing subsequent data releases as sparse and unreliable. In his resignation post, Rosenblum praised his former colleagues as dedicated civil servants working in a "hostile" environment, while a former DHS spokesperson said his exit reflected the administration's pattern of suppressing information that contradicts its rhetoric.
