Diane Warren Adopts West Hollywood’s Runaway Pig: ‘Welcome Wilbur!’
A viral video showed a piglet running loose through the streets of West Hollywood over the weekend, sparking a rescue effort after passer-by Jamaal Harrison filmed himself chasing the animal, later named Wilbur after the pig in "Charlotte's Web." When no owner came forward to claim him at the West L.A. Animal Services Shelter, a silent auction was held to find him a new home, which was won on behalf of Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren.
Warren, who said friends had been sending her footage of the pig, enlisted Marcia Zwilling of the Diane Warren Foundation to secure the winning bid on Thursday. Wilbur, thought to be around 11 weeks old but capable of growing to between 50 and 125 pounds, will now live at Warren's Moosebutt Rescue Ranch. Animal Services officials noted that prospective pig owners need adequate space and must meet zoning requirements, while Zwilling said Wilbur would enjoy "gourmet salads every day" at his new home.
