His release date has fluctuated repeatedly over the past year, having initially been set for May 2028, pushed back after reports he broke prison rules by making alcohol, then revised several times before settling on the current figure. Combs was originally charged with racketeering and sex trafficking over allegations involving ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, but was acquitted of the most serious counts; his lawyers are now appealing both the conviction and the sentence, which they have called "draconian", with a court ruling possible before the end of 2026.
