Diiv have announced a new album, Zirp!, produced by A. G. Cook, using an unconventional stealth campaign involving a telemarketer-style hotline mailed to fans and social media teasers. The album, due out on 30 October, follows Frog in Boiling Water and marks the band's quickest turnaround between records to date, arriving amid a difficult period for frontman Zachary Cole Smith, who welcomed a second child and lost his home in the Altadena wildfires.

The hotline message bills the record as "the future of alternative multimedia entertainment", while Diiv's website describes it as heralding "a new genre for the 21st century". The band previously addressed the wildfire aftermath on a stopgap single, "Return of Youth", released last May. Producer A. G. Cook, whose last solo album was 2024's triple-LP Britpop, has remained prolific in the interim, working on releases under Thy Slaughter and Dux Content and collaborating again with Charli XCX on her new album, Music, Fashion, Film.
