DIIV unveil ZIRP, produced by A. G. Cook, out October
Developing story first seen 3 hours ago
Shoegaze band Diiv have announced a new album, ZIRP!, produced by A. G. Cook and set for release on 30 October 2026 via Fantasy Records. The follow-up to their previous record, Frog In Boiling Water, marks a notable pairing: Cook has spent 2026 becoming one of pop's most in-demand producers, while Diiv bring their own well-established shoegaze sound, raising expectations for a distinctive fusion of styles.
No music or singles have yet been released, though a presave page was shared via Instagram and Cook teased the news on his own Stories. The announcement was accompanied by an unusual marketing campaign: some fans received business cards bearing a QR code and a phone number that, when called, plays a telemarketer-style recording branding ZIRP! as "the future of alternative multimedia entertainment" using corporate buzzwords about "challenging assumptions" and thinking "on a global scale". Cook has had a busy year, working on Charli XCX's soundtrack for The Moment and her album Music, Fashion, Film, alongside reissuing material from his Dux Content project with Danny L Harle, and has recently leaned into anthemic, guitar-driven sounds through his Thy Slaughter side project and solo work.
