Disney Animation Studios chief creative officer Jared Bush has said a Kingdom Hearts feature film is not impossible, though he stopped short of confirming that one is in development. His comments matter because Disney has recently expanded its plans for the franchise, including a newly announced Disney+ animated series, signalling greater interest beyond the games.

The remarks followed D23 footage from Kingdom Hearts IV, which will include a playable Coco world and is scheduled for release in late 2027. Disney has described Kingdom Hearts as one of its billion-dollar franchises; the new game will also feature characters including Mickey, Goofy and Hades, while a D23 panel is due to offer behind-the-scenes discussion of its development.
