Disney has described Kingdom Hearts as a billion-dollar franchise, signalling the long-running Disney and Square Enix collaboration’s commercial importance ahead of a planned D23 presentation. The designation raises expectations that Disney may invest more visibly in the series, although it does not itself confirm any new game announcement.

The company did not specify how the billion-dollar figure was calculated or which revenue streams it includes. Square Enix reported that the series had sold more than 38 million units by June 2025, while Kingdom Hearts is approaching its 25th anniversary and Kingdom Hearts 4 remains in development.
