## Key points

- *WandaVision* tells its story across nine episodes.
- Wanda’s sitcom world conceals a town held captive.
- The series gave Wanda more power and moral complexity.

## Summary

*WandaVision* uses the sitcom styles of different decades to tell a science-fiction story about Wanda Maximoff’s grief after Vision’s death. The nine-episode series gradually reveals that Wanda has trapped a New Jersey town in an invented reality, making it a notable shift towards more unusual and character-focused Marvel storytelling.

The article argues that the series gave Wanda greater power and complexity, letting her make consequential choices and face their ethical costs. It also introduced her Scarlet Witch identity and is presented as a standout among Marvel’s Disney+ shows, though the article notes her later storyline in *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness* was repetitive.
