## Summary

Disney’s live-action *Moana* has reached No. 1 on the US Disney+ film chart, giving the film a streaming boost after a disappointing cinema run. Its rapid rise suggests the familiar story and the popularity of the animated original continue to draw viewers.

The film debuted on Disney+ on 21 October and topped the chart by 23 October, according to FlixPatrol, holding off seasonal favourites *The Nightmare Before Christmas* and *Hocus Pocus*. Directed by Thomas Kail, it stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson as Maui, and follows Moana’s voyage beyond her island reef to protect her people.
