A newly obtained 75-page court dossier has revealed previously unseen photographs and messages showing Karmelo Anthony, the Texas teenager convicted of fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in April 2025, posing with firearms and sending racist and homophobic messages in the months and years before the killing. The material, gathered by prosecutors but withheld from jurors under an agreement between prosecution and defence lawyers not to introduce background evidence about either teenager, has surfaced days after Anthony's parents publicly appealed for further donations towards his legal costs, despite already having raised more than $600,000 (£470,000) and having a pro-bono legal team pursuing a new trial.

The dossier, verified as authentic by the Daily Mail, includes images of Anthony, now 19, holding a handgun and an AK-47-style rifle, as well as footage of him aiming a weapon at a house in January 2025. Text exchanges with his girlfriend, Valeria Perez, who has continued to support him throughout the case, reportedly contain derogatory remarks about black women, while older messages from 2021 show abusive comments about gay people and a former US president. Anthony also allegedly told his girlfriend he had taken a knife and gun to school and admitted to a burglary, months before the fatal stabbing that killed Metcalf, a case that has drawn wide attention in the Dallas area and beyond.
