## Key points

- Democrats recorded a broad election victory.
- Jane Kleeb credited candidates, organisers and voter engagement.
- She said the party rebuilt its message after past setbacks.

## Summary

Democrats won a series of major races, with margins wider than party vice chair Jane Kleeb expected. She credited the result to strong candidates and organisers who reflected their communities, alongside voter opposition to Donald Trump.

Kleeb said the party had struggled to communicate and find its footing after setbacks in 2016 and 2024, and that Trump’s return prompted Democrats to present themselves as agents of change. She also said California’s proposed billionaire tax may have been hurt by confusing ballot wording, while arguing voters still want greater accountability from wealthy interests.
