Do you like to be beside the Seaside? Beside the sea? Well, here are some of the top beauty spots for you to visit…
Six Scottish seaside communities have been voted among the best in the UK in a survey of members by the consumer group Which?. The results matter as a guide for holidaymakers, with Fife's St Andrews and Crail both featuring in the top five, though Bamburgh in Northumberland took the overall top spot.
St Andrews, known as the Home of Golf, was ranked third behind Tynemouth in Tyne and Wear, helped by its East Sands beach, but was marked down for being expensive and lacking tranquillity. The fishing village of Crail shared fourth place with Aldeburgh in Suffolk, despite limited attractions and shopping. Other Scottish entries in the top 30 included North Berwick in East Lothian, Plockton in Ross-shire, Dornoch in Sutherland and Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Visitors rated the destinations on factors including food and drink, scenery, beaches, peace and quiet, value for money and attractions, with Plockton scoring full marks for scenery and quiet. Some Scottish spots also appeared on the bottom 30 list.
