The visit is notable because the Dodgers have now become the first team to win consecutive World Series since the New York Yankees claimed three in a row between 1998 and 2000.

The Dodgers sealed their latest title with a Game 7 comeback against the Toronto Blue Jays, winning in 11 innings, and the 23 July date falls between road series in Philadelphia and New York. The trip has drawn objections from some quarters: the National Day Laborer Organizing Network launched an online petition urging the team not to attend, arguing that a visit would signal support for a president whose immigration policies it says have harmed vulnerable communities in Los Angeles. The petition framed the Dodgers as a symbol of the city's diverse neighbourhoods and called on them to stand with immigrant families. At last year's visit marking the 2024 title, reliever Brusdar Graterol and some other players opted out of the celebration.
