Dolly Parton Apologizes For Missing Dollywood Attraction Opening Amid Ongoing Health Issues, Says Doctor ‘Kinda Clipped My Wings’

Dolly Parton missed the opening of the new NightFlight Expedition roller coaster at her Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on 14 August, as ongoing health issues kept her in Nashville. The 80-year-old country star sent a personal video message to Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, apologising for being unable to make the roughly 200-mile trip in person as planned, in a lighthearted clip in which she appeared with animated butterfly wings.

In the video, Parton explained that her Nashville doctor had advised her against travelling that week, joking that he had "kinda clipped my wings." She said she has recently experienced dizziness and dehydration, and reassured fans she would see them "down the road." Parton has largely stayed out of the public eye since postponing her Las Vegas residency last September for undisclosed medical procedures, though she did appear in person in March to mark Dollywood's 41st anniversary.
