Dolly Parton looks set to score her first ever UK number one single, just over a week after her death at the age of 80. Her 1980 hit "9 to 5" has surged up the Official Charts Company's rankings following a wave of tributes, an achievement that eluded her throughout a six-decade career despite winning 11 Grammy Awards.

The track jumped to number 12 last Friday, a 350 per cent week-on-week rise, before climbing further to the top spot over the weekend, with her 1973 song "Jolene" close behind at number two. The Official Charts Company predicts "9 to 5" will hold the top position until this Friday. Written for the film of the same name, in which Parton starred alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, the song earned her an Oscar nomination. Tributes have poured in from stars including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Sir Paul McCartney and Kylie Minogue, following Parton's death from cancer at Nashville's Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Centre.
