Dolly Parton has announced that her stage production, Dolly: A True Original Musical, will transfer to Broadway this winter, with the country star revealing the news herself in a video posted to her social media accounts on Tuesday 7 July. The show charts Parton's life and career, and the singer stressed that it focuses on her personal story rather than her glamorous image, describing it as an account of "what I've lived, what I've lost, what I've loved and how I found my way". The transfer marks a significant milestone for the 80-year-old performer, bringing her music and life story to one of the world's most prominent stages.

Preview performances are due to begin on Monday 7 December, with opening night set for 19 January 2027 — Parton's 81st birthday — at New York's St. James Theatre on West 44th Street. The production's book was written by Parton and two-time Emmy winner Maria S. Schlatter and is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, featuring hits such as "I Will Always Love You", "Jolene" and "9 to 5" alongside newly written songs. The musical had its world premiere last summer at Nashville's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, and tickets went on general sale on 10 July, following a pre-sale for eligible Capital One cardholders.
