In an Instagram post, Stella thanked fans for genuine support during the family's bereavement, but criticised the "incredible pressure and insensitivity from strangers" that public figures face, condemning those who exploit others' grief and spread misinformation online for engagement.

Stella wrote that Dolly would have been "surprised and delighted" by the outpouring of love shown to the family, noting that Dolly generally avoided sharing opinions on controversial topics to prevent negativity. She recalled that both sisters experienced feelings of being made to feel "less than" as children, and urged fans to show more compassion and tolerance, using Dolly's example, rather than focusing on "clever comments" or online point-scoring. The post echoes an earlier tribute Stella shared shortly after Dolly's death, in which she said her sister "left the world a better place by being in it."
