Dolly Parton's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is being restored after it was vandalised, with an unveiling planned for Friday. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed that repair work, carried out by the Hollywood Historic Trust, began late last week and is nearing completion, timed to give fans a fully polished tribute to the late singer following her recent death at the age of 80.

Chamber spokesperson Ana Martinez said the star also had pre-existing cracks from wear and tear, meaning the vandalism repair effectively coincided with scheduled maintenance. Fans reacted with a mix of anger over the attack, whose motive remains unknown, and optimism that the star would emerge looking better than before. Parton received her Walk of Fame star in 1985 following the release of her film Rhinestone, at a ceremony alongside co-star Sylvester Stallone.
