## Key points

- Trump said he would consider Minaj for press secretary.
- Minaj appeared with Trump at a Michigan rally.
- Speculation followed a press secretary’s brief tenure.

## Summary

Donald Trump said he would consider Nicki Minaj for the White House press secretary role after being asked about the idea on a podcast. The remark follows Minaj’s recent appearances alongside Trump and public support for Republican candidates, though no appointment has been announced.

Minaj joined Trump at a Michigan rally on 25 October, where she backed Mike Rogers and John James, and travelled there aboard Air Force One. Speculation grew after Katie Zacharia left the press secretary job five days after starting in mid-October; communications director Steven Cheung also shared a mock interview with Minaj. Earlier this year, she judged the administration’s Million Dollar Pitch Competition.
