Alison dos Santos broke the men’s 400m hurdles world record at the Zurich Diamond League, running 45.80 seconds to surpass Karsten Warholm’s 45.94-second mark from 2021. The result underlined Dos Santos’s unbeaten season and marked one of two world records set during a packed night of athletics in front of a capacity crowd.

Swiss runner Audrey Werro narrowly missed the long-standing women’s 800m world record, clocking 1:53.70, the third-fastest time in history and just 0.42 seconds outside Jarmila Kratochvilova’s 1983 mark. Femke Bol set a Dutch record of 1:54.71 in second, ahead of Britain’s Georgia Hunter-Bell, while Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson withdrew and will face Werro and Bol again at the Brussels Diamond League final on 4-5 September.
