Drive a train around an ash-covered world collecting ingredients for the last ever s’more as an anthropomorphic bird in the surreal and comically ominous Cinderline
Rock Paper Shotgun previewed Cinderline, an upcoming exploration game in which players control a silent, anthropomorphic bird piloting a small train through an ash-covered, surreal world in search of ingredients for "the last ever s'more". Described as a simple walking simulator with light platforming, the game is notable for its strange, unsettling atmosphere and offbeat cast of characters, marking it out within the crowded "run around as a little guy" genre.
The demo opens with the bird hatching from an egg, evoking comparisons to Angel's Egg, before it discovers a manually operated train with separate levers for direction and speed. Its journey takes it through an underground station and an ash-covered town, where it encounters odd figures including a frightened toaster and a trench-coated stranger, eventually obtaining a stick from a cigar-smoking balloon devoured by giant teeth — the final ingredient needed, after which all the strange characters vanish, hinting the quest may have darker consequences. Cinderline can be wishlisted and its demo downloaded on Steam.
