Dubois unification moves closer as Turhan joins MVP
Turkish lightweight world champion Elif Nur Turhan has signed with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), increasing the likelihood of a future undisputed or unification bout with Britain’s Caroline Dubois. The move places Turhan alongside Dubois and WBA champion Stephanie Han, potentially making it easier for MVP to arrange major fights between the division’s title holders.
Turhan, 31, is unbeaten in 14 professional contests, including eight stoppage wins, and holds the IBF title. Dubois will defend her WBC and WBO belts against Amelia Moore in Birmingham on 29 August, while MVP’s partnership with Matchroom is intended to create more cross-promotional opportunities for women’s boxing; Turhan is the second champion, after Skye Nicolson, to move from Matchroom to MVP.
