‘Dune 3’: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Denis Villeneuve Return to Abu Dhabi Desert That Doubles as Planet Arrakis in Behind-the-Scenes Images

The Abu Dhabi Film Commission has released new behind-the-scenes images from the shoot of "Dune: Part Three", the concluding chapter of Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi trilogy, filmed in the emirate's Liwa Desert. The images confirm the return of stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, alongside Villeneuve, to the location that has doubled as the desert planet Arrakis across all three films, underlining Abu Dhabi's growing role as a major international production hub.

Inspired by Frank Herbert's novel "Dune Messiah", the film picks up 17 years after "Part Two" and follows Paul Atreides as a now-ruthless emperor confronting the consequences of his reign, with returning allies, new threats and a conspiracy centred on Chani. The 31-day shoot involved more than 600 UAE-based individuals and benefited from Abu Dhabi's cashback rebate of up to 50% on qualifying spend, with support from the Creative Media Authority and local production partners. Warner Bros. and Legendary release the film on 18 December.
