Durham will pick bowler Carse until told otherwise

BBC Sport · 13 hours ago

Durham will continue selecting England bowler Brydon Carse unless cricket authorities instruct the club otherwise, despite an ongoing police investigation following an incident after Saturday’s win over Derbyshire. Coach Ryan Campbell said Carse feels he has let teammates down, but Durham intends to support him while allowing due process to take place.

Carse, 31, was briefly arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, though Derbyshire Police later said a man was de-arrested and that allegations of assault remain under investigation. He was removed from England’s squad for the second Pakistan Test while the Cricket Regulator investigates, a process likely to be delayed by the police inquiry; Carse nevertheless played for Durham against Gloucestershire, taking 2-51 as they were bowled out for 137.

  • Durham will keep selecting Brydon Carse pending official instructions.
  • Police and cricket authorities are investigating the incident.
  • Carse was removed from England’s squad but played for Durham.
