Dyson’s new gigantic air purifier looks like a sandworm from Dune

Engadget · 2 hours ago

Dyson has unveiled a wave of 12 new products at its "Dyson Unveiled" event in Berlin, held alongside IFA 2026, spanning air purifiers, robot vacuums, floor cleaners and haircare. Chief engineer Jake Dyson said the 2026 range is built around greater "intelligence" — computer vision, AI and machine learning features designed to make devices more responsive, such as sensors that detect gumlines for water flossers or measure hair temperature to prevent damage. The launch signals Dyson's continued push into smart home technology and AI-assisted cleaning as it competes with rivals in the crowded robovac and air-purification markets.

The standout item is the HushJet Big+Quiet Cool Pure+ air purifier, a large flagship unit with a directional nozzle for projecting purified air across big or multiple rooms, priced at $1,099 and using three-stage filtration that even breaks down formaldehyde. Dyson also introduced a new "Nurovi" robovac line combining neural intelligence and vision systems, led by the $1,199 R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV, which can identify around 200 household substances using UV and AI stain detection and launches on 15 September. Other releases include the $699 R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry (a Costco exclusive with triangular cleaning pads) and an updated $349 W1 PencilWash slim vacuum arriving in autumn 2026.
