## Key points

- EA is closing BioWare and cancelling its next Mass Effect game.
- Around 400 jobs are being cut across the company.
- Full Circle is also being reduced as EA reshapes its studios.

## Summary

EA has announced it will close BioWare and cancel the studio’s next Mass Effect project, ending work at the Edmonton office. The move is part of a wider restructuring as the company adjusts its business after going private and taking on substantial debt.

The Mass Effect game was in early development with a small team; EA’s decision follows sales shortfalls for Anthem and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Around 3 per cent of EA’s workforce, approximately 400 people, will be laid off, while Skate developer Full Circle will also be reduced. EA says it will help affected staff explore other roles within the company.
