Ed Sheeran’s shows at Robert Kraft’s Gillette Stadium and other huge events have been cancelled after all – thanks to “severe weather warnings”
Ed Sheeran’s two scheduled concerts at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts were cancelled shortly before the first show because of severe weather warnings across Boston and New England. The cancellations ended weeks of controversy over Macklemore’s removal from the tour and raised further uncertainty around Sheeran’s remaining performances.
Promoter Messina Touring said safety was the priority, with Ticketmaster refunds issued automatically. Macklemore was dropped after criticism of a pro-Palestinian speech, prompting several support acts and some backing musicians to withdraw; other events, including All Things Go, Global Citizen Festival and Brooklyn’s CBGB Festival, were also cancelled as a powerful nor’easter brought heavy rain, strong winds and coastal flooding.
- Severe weather cancelled both Gillette Stadium concerts.
- The decision followed a dispute over Macklemore’s removal.
- Several other major New York music events were cancelled.
