Eddie Vedder paid tribute to his late friend Glen Hansard by busking on Dublin's Grafton Street at 3am, the spot where the Irish musician first began performing. The Pearl Jam frontman played covers of Pearl Jam's "Black" and Bruce Springsteen's "Drive All Night" during the impromptu gathering, weeks after Hansard died following a motorcycle accident at the age of 56.

The tribute was organised by Scottish musician Murdo Mitchell, who had known Hansard since being spotted busking as a teenager, along with several friends. Mitchell shared photos and videos of the moment on Instagram, saying the group felt it was "the right thing to do" despite having little equipment, and that "his spirit was there". Hansard, who fronted The Frames and won an Oscar for his work on Once, was laid to rest on 4 August in Dublin following a funeral at which Vedder, Markéta Irglová, Bono, The Edge and Liam Ó Maonlaí performed tributes.
