EJAE to Be Honored by Korean American Non-Profit Gyopo at the 8th Annual Chuseok Benefit (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 2 hours ago

EJAE, the Oscar- and Grammy-winning songwriter, has been named as this year's honoree of Gyopo's 8th annual Chuseok Benefit, a Los Angeles-based Korean American non-profit event. The award recognises her artistic influence and her openness about the pressures and setbacks behind her rise to prominence, with Gyopo citing her ability to speak candidly about her career while remaining rooted in her diasporic Korean identity. The honour underlines her growing cultural standing following her breakout success as a singer-songwriter.

The benefit will be held on 27 September in Los Angeles, hosted by Gyopo board member Ann Soh Woods at her Brentwood residence, and coincides with Chuseok, the Korean harvest festival. Proceeds fund Gyopo's free year-round arts programming. EJAE is best known as the singing voice of Rumi in "KPop Demon Hunters" and co-wrote the soundtrack hit "Golden," which won the Academy Award, Critics Choice Award, Golden Globe and Grammy for Best Original Song; she joins previous honorees including Steven Yeun, Randall Park and Cathy Park Hong.
