A Florida elementary school teacher has been arrested and charged after allegedly showing young female students explicit images and videos of himself and others, and inappropriately touching them, over the course of the 2024-2025 school year. Cesar Oriol Cardoso, 53, is accused of luring girls into his classroom at Sunset Park Elementary School in Miami-Dade under the guise of letting them "spend time and play", before subjecting them to sustained sexual abuse. He was dismissed from his post in April when the allegations first surfaced and police launched an investigation.

According to Cardoso's arrest affidavit, multiple girls independently reported that he showed them explicit photographs and videos on his phone, including images of himself naked, footage of adults having sex, and, in one alleged instance, a video depicting a boy aged between 12 and 14 engaged in a sexual act with a woman. Girls also alleged he slapped them on the buttocks, threatened further physical contact if they misbehaved, tickled them inappropriately, and told at least one girl he wanted to kiss her. Cardoso was arrested on Friday and charged with three felonies: offences against students by an authority figure, lewd and lascivious conduct on a child under 16, and showing obscene material to a minor. He is being held without bond and has not yet entered a plea.
