## Summary

Elizabeth Holmes, the Theranos founder serving an 11-year sentence for wire fraud, formed an unlikely friendship with fellow inmate Carissa Pollard at a federal prison camp in Texas. Pollard says Holmes helped her adjust to prison life, and the account offers a personal glimpse of Holmes’s routine as a new documentary renews public interest in her case.

Pollard, 49, is serving a 21-month sentence for defrauding a non-profit theatre and failing to file tax returns. She says the two women bonded over separation from their children and difficulties with diet and fitness. At Federal Prison Camp Bryan, inmates share four-person rooms, wake at 5am, work for seven to nine cents an hour and have lights-out at 8.30pm; Holmes’s children reportedly visit most weekends.
