## Key points

- Amaranthe are beginning work on their next album.
- Elize Ryd says it will lean towards Gothenburg metal.
- Mikael Sehlin will provide growls on his second album with the band.

## Summary

Amaranthe are preparing to record their next album, with singer Elize Ryd describing its direction as a return to the Gothenburg metal sound. The shift follows several albums on which the band experimented with different styles, and signals a musical direction the group says is already taking shape.

Drums are due to be recorded with longtime producer Jacob Hansen, after which the band will work on the remaining instruments and vocals; no release date has been announced. The album will be the second to feature Mikael Sehlin on growls, following his joining in 2023 and the release of “The Catalyst” in February 2024. Ryd said most of the new material is written and praised Sehlin’s fit with the band.
